How to keep it working
A standard Taiwan Mobile prepaid number is valid for six months from the day it is set up, and each top-up restarts the six months from the top-up day; a number that is not topped up before its validity ends lapses automatically. Any unused call balance can be moved to another Taiwan Mobile number in normal use; six months after the lapse Taiwan Mobile starts charging a monthly custody fee on what is left, and if you hold no other Taiwan Mobile number you can ask for a cash refund. The main-account balance is capped at NT$5,000, of which top-ups through the website and app can total no more than NT$1,200. Short-validity cards cannot be topped up. Setting up is done in person at a myfone store with two original ID documents, and the holder must be 18 or older, or come with a legal guardian.
