How to keep it working
A docomo line can receive texts abroad through international roaming (WORLD WING) at no charge, while sending a text or making a call costs extra. With data roaming off and airplane mode off, calls and texts still work without data charges, and docomo's notice texts arrive. For data, docomo MAX and docomo Poikatsu MAX include up to 30 GB for the first 15 days in 200+ countries and regions at no extra charge and with no application: just switch data roaming on. The US mainland, Taiwan, China and Hong Kong are all on the list. docomo has announced that from 1 December 2026 the overseas allowance rises to 40 GB a month and a paid option keeps full speed after day 15. Other plans can spend their Japanese data allowance abroad with World Sonomama Giga.
