How to keep it working
HKBN's mobile services run on the networks of SmarTone, China Mobile Hong Kong and 3 Hong Kong. Its SIM-only plans are contracts of 24 to 30 months, and the HK$28 monthly administration fee is waived during the minimum contract. The three plans on its page include 1 to 4 GB a month of mainland China and Macau data, depending on the plan. A number being ported in can start up to 180 days after registration, so you can register before the old contract ends. HKBN also sells a prepaid eSIM that 3 Hong Kong provides: it must be activated within 60 days of purchase, is then valid for 365 days, and is suspended until real-name registration is complete.
