Where it works

Only the markets where the carrier's own pages say the SIM receives texts or uses data are listed. A market that is missing is one the carrier does not say it works in.

How to keep it working

Ubigi is data only: its terms say it provides no phone number and no calls or SMS, so keep your own SIM for codes and use WhatsApp, FaceTime or similar apps for calls and messages. Its SmartStart feature starts a plan's validity when you arrive in a covered area, and a plan that is not activated within six months of purchase expires. Ubigi sells one-off plans per destination, with unlimited plans in 90+ of them including the USA and Japan, and monthly plans that renew every month and can be cancelled after three months. The eSIM is reusable and can be topped up in the app. USA plans cover Hawaii but not Alaska.
