The HSBC EveryMile is an HSBC Hong Kong card that pays in miles at two rates, one for a short list of everyday and travel spending and one for everything else. It has a fee after the first year and a lounge benefit that depends on how much you spend. This guide goes through what HSBC lists in October 2026, how to tell whether the card covers its own fee, and who should hold it.

Where the HK$2 rate applies
HSBC lists four groups at the faster rate and puts everything else at HK$5 a mile.
| Spending | Rate |
|---|---|
| Selected cafés and light meals | HK$2 = 1 mile |
| Local transportation | HK$2 = 1 mile |
| Cross-border transportation | HK$2 = 1 mile |
| Travel services | HK$2 = 1 mile |
| Other local and overseas spending | HK$5 = 1 mile |
- HK$2 = 1 mile
- Shorthand for one mile for every HK$2 spent. The HK$5 rate works the same way.
- Designated merchant
- A merchant on HSBC's published list, which decides what counts at the faster rate.
- Reward+
- HSBC's app for converting and redeeming rewards. Holders of this card can redeem RewardCash only there.
HSBC also lists a limited-time offer on overseas spending: miles at as low as HK$2 each when eligible overseas spending reaches HK$12,000 in total. Read the page for the dates and whether registration is needed.
Does it cover its own fee?
The first year is free, so the question starts in year two. A fee of HK$2,000 is covered once the miles earned are worth more than that to you, and that depends on a value you choose.
For the method behind this, see annual fees and break-even.
The lounge benefit
During its promotion period HSBC lists up to 6 complimentary visits to a Plaza Premium lounge, or free meals at selected airport dining outlets in Hong Kong and overseas. Each visit is subject to HK$4,000 of local or overseas spending within 60 days after the visit. That makes it a benefit you earn by spending, not one you simply hold. For a wider look at lounges, see airport lounge access in 2026.
Using the miles
HSBC says RewardCash converts at a preferential rate in the Reward+ app to miles or points across 19 frequent flyer and hotel programmes, or into free tickets from more than 110 airlines. Its FAQ lists programmes including British Airways Avios, Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer, Qatar Airways Privilege Club and Turkish Airlines Miles&Smiles, and says conversion is instant except for some programmes, where it can take up to 2 weeks. The page also lists a 20 percent saving when you pay designated travel merchants with RewardCash through the app.
Other benefits
HSBC lists Agoda discounts of up to 15 percent year round on designated hotels, a 24-hour Visa concierge hotline, and complimentary multi-trip travel insurance underwritten by AXA that covers baggage, personal effects and trip cancellation. Read the insurance terms for limits and exclusions before you rely on them.
Eligibility and the application
HSBC lists an annual income of HK$240,000 or above. Its page shows welcome offers for new customers who reach set spending amounts within 60 calendar days of card issue, with amounts that change, so this guide does not quote them.
Check the income requirement
HSBC lists HK$240,000 a year. Check its page for the documents it accepts.
Read the welcome offer
Read the spending required and the time allowed, and do not chase spending you would not otherwise make.
Decide how you will use the lounge benefit
It needs HK$4,000 of spending after each visit, so count it only if you would spend that anyway.
Plan for year two
Set a reminder before the first fee and decide then whether to keep the card.
Is it right for you?
Fits you
- You spend steadily on cafés, local transport and travel services that HSBC lists.
- You want to move miles into the programmes HSBC converts to.
- You would use the lounge benefit because you fly from Hong Kong.
Think twice
- Your monthly spending is light, so the fee may outweigh the miles.
- You need an additional card for a family member, which this card does not offer.
- You prefer a flat cash rebate to miles, where a card without a fee may do better.

Questions people ask
What does the EveryMile earn?
HSBC lists unlimited miles at one mile per HK$2 on designated everyday and travel spending (selected cafés and light meals, local transportation, cross-border transportation and travel services), and one mile per HK$5 on other local and overseas spending.
What is the annual fee?
HSBC's page lists a first-year annual fee waiver. The card library records an annual fee of HK$2,000 after that, so read HSBC's fees and charges page before you apply.
Which spending counts at the HK$2 rate?
HSBC says selected cafés and light meals, local transportation, cross-border transportation and travel services, and publishes a full merchant list as a PDF. The list, not the category name, decides what counts.
Can I add a family member as an additional cardholder?
HSBC's FAQ says additional cards are available for its credit cards except the EveryMile and the Visa Gold Card for Students.
How do I use the miles?
HSBC says to convert RewardCash in the Reward+ app at a preferential rate to miles or points across 19 frequent flyer and hotel programmes, or to redeem free tickets from more than 110 airlines. Holders of this card can redeem RewardCash only in the Reward+ app.
