What keeps points alive
Points do not expire while the credit card account is open, so inactivity cannot clear them (terms effective 30 December 2025). Close all your rewards-eligible cards and you give up every pending and active reward on the day the last one closes; close one of several and the rewards stay in the account. Wells Fargo can suspend or cancel your programme for fraud, misuse or breaking the terms, and rewards can be lost with it. New York account holders get a check for the cash value of available rewards when a card closes, unless the closure is for fraud or misuse. Redeem before closing your last card.
