What to check
Fidelity does not charge foreign transaction fees, but if you choose to pay in US dollars at a foreign terminal the rate may be worse than the market rate, so pay in the local currency. ATM fees are reimbursed at machines showing the Visa, Plus or Star logo. The account is a brokerage account, not a bank account: uninvested cash is eligible for FDIC insurance, while brokerage holdings are not FDIC-insured.
