How to keep the number
Each Chunghwa Telecom prepaid (如意) card number is valid for 180 days from the day it was set up (申裝日). Topping up the main account restarts the 180 days from the top-up date, and the top-up limit is NT$5,000: once the unused main-account balance plus a new top-up would reach NT$5,000 or more, the top-up is refused. A number that is topped up inside each validity period can be kept indefinitely; if you miss the deadline, the number lapses automatically after the expiry date. Any unused main-account balance can be transferred, on application, to the holder's own number or any Chunghwa Telecom mobile number the holder names, as long as it is in normal use.
